Michael Brownlie

Michael Brownlie is Deputy Chief Staff and Legislative Director to Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. Senator Sinema is in her first term as Arizona’s senior senator after six years in the US House of Representatives. Michael joined then-Congresswoman Sinema during her first year in federal office in 2013. As Legislative Director, he is the Senator’s primary policy advisor and is responsible for developing and executing her policy and legislative strategies. As Deputy Chief of Staff, he manages and leads certain aspects of office operations. Michael previously served in the office of Congresswoman Niki Tsongas of Massachusetts as Legislative Director, and in the offices of Congressman Mike Michaud of Maine and Congressman Jim Barcia of Michigan as Legislative Assistant. Michael has an MBA from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at the Naval War College and the Air Command Staff College. Originally from Michigan, Michael resides in Washington DC with his wife Carrie and two sons, Joseph and Asher.
